The American & Canadian Reading Group

On the second Wednesday of the month, from 19:00  to 21:00 you are invited to join our Reading Group to discuss the book-of-the-month, written by an American or Canadian author. We meet once a month, our evening get-together is in the Brussels area.

    Reading Group guidelines/criteria:

We look for great authors who write in English, available for purchase in shops or online, not more than 300-400 pages, and prefer those that have a score of at least 4/5 on Goodreads.  The books do not have to be recent; they can also be ones you loved, and we might have missed.

Interested in joining the Reading Group?

The Reading Group meets in member's homes in Brussels and the surrounding area.  As such, it is restricted to members of the AWCB and ACB.  Current members of the AWCB and ACB are encouraged to reach out bookclub@awcb.org with any questions.

Non members can find the conditions to join either club on their respective websites

    The Art of Sake

And where better to discover it than at The Nine Bar & Restaurant in Brussels, with the guidance of Annabelle Maes, Founder of Kaori Tea & Spices, sake sommelier, and Japanologist passionate about Japanese culture.

What you will learn during this workshop:

    • What is sake: how is it made, treated, and aged?
    • Categorization
    • Production process
    • How to store sake
    • How to interpret and describe taste, smell, and appearance

Experience a unique tasting of 6 sakes with small amuse-bouches made by The Nine Bar & Restaurant.  You will taste around 6 sakes of 6cl each, with an average alcohol content of 14–16%. Please make sure to have eaten something before the tasting.

    Tickets:

    • Members of The Nine : €53.62
    • Public : €64.10

There will be an earlybird wine for those who arrive on time, and a tsipouro at the end!

The wines will be presented by Petros Fotopoulos, the agronomist and oenologist who has shared his passion and knowledge about wine at several previous Greek wine tastings.

Blind wine tasting: 8th Annual Battle of Bubbles

    Thursday, December 11 · 7:30 - 10:30pm

Le Comptoir Rodin, Avenue Auguste Rodin 8 1050 Ixelles

Back by popular demand! Join our partner Brandon from Terre Mieli Cieli for his 8th annual "Battle of the Bubbles" pairing off four good Champagnes against a few great Bubbles-That-Must-Not-Be-Called-Champagnes from the rest of the world.

This blind tasting will feature eight sparkling wines, most made in the same traditional method as Champagne, but from a few places you might not expect to make great sparkling wines. To keep things fair and fun, Brandon will cover the labels up-front and ask you to rate each as we go and then and only then will I unveil each wine after you've tasted it.  Who do you think will win this year? Champagne or Rest of World?

An earlybird wine will reward those who come and help us start on time. ;-)

As usual, the wine will be paired with plenty of good food.

The tasting, with a full dinner costs 75 euros for members. Participation is limited to the first 30 people who sign up.

Registration and Cancellations are possible until noon on 8 December, 2025. Participants cancelling after this time, as well as no-shows, are charged the full cost of the event.

ACB Chant d'Eole Belgian Sparkling Wine Tour & Lunch

    Sunday February 8, 11.30am

Famous for their delicious bubbles / sparkling wine - we can't call it Champagne as its not from the Champagne region - BUT its excellent quality and some people cannot tell the difference! Come and see for yourself!

The tour takes you to the heart of the largest family vineyard in Belgium! The guides will describe each step of the winemaking process, from planting to bottling, including the selection of grape varieties, vine maintenance, harvesting, and vinification.

The tour concludes with a tasting of our Chant d'Eole Brut Blanc de Blancs, our Chant d'Eole Brut Rosé, and our Elixir Saint-Georges.

Follow us in the cozy Brasserie d'Eole for a winter lunch with raclettes and fondues on the menu!

    ACB FINAL FRIDAY COCKTAIL

    April 24, 18:30 - 21:30

Corinthia Brussels - Under the Stairs Bar

    Rue Royale 103, Brussels

Join the American Club of Brussels for our monthly Friday drinks at the beautiful Corinthia Brussels on April 24, 2026.

The Corinthia Brussels, formerly the Grand Hotel Astoria on Rue Royale, has been fully transformed into a luxurious Belle Époque-style hotel. Blending historic charm with modern elegance, it partners with local talent to offer elevated bar and dining experiences, positioning itself as a premier destination for both locals and global visitors.

We had such a lovely Final Final in a private room at the Corinthia in April, that we are now heading back for our September Final Friday to experience their newly opened, chic bar - Under the Stairs - which also has an outside courtyard that we can enjoy if the weather is good.

For those who are new to the ACB and our Friday drinks, each month we meet at a location around Brussels for our monthly get-together. This is a great opportunity to mingle and socialize with new and old friends in Brussels in a fun and relaxing environment. So, bring your friends, all are welcome!
