A Guided Visit of Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel
Followed by a Concert by Trio Sōra

Sunday, May 27, 2018 - 10:15 a.m.

Come along to a special morning at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel!

We will begin by a guided tour through this superb Art Deco House, then enjoy a Concert with Trio Sōra who will play Piano trio in D major, “Ghost”, op. 70 No. 1 (Beethoven) and Piano trio, op. 24 (Weinberg). It will be possible to have lunch in Le Chapel Restaurant afterwards.

The Music Chapel was created in 1939 by Queen Elisabeth, a violinist keen to help young talent, and Eugène Ysaÿe, one of the greatest violinists and composers of his time. Both wanted to support emerging artists through a highly specialized school and an international competition, which later became the renowned Queen Elisabeth Competition.

The Music Chapel has lots of atmosphere and some parts still echo Queen Elisabeth's tastes. We will visit the new wing with the studios, the beautiful great concert hall and the garden. You will learn about the great musicians and composers who left their mark and, of course, about the Music Competition.

Distinguished by a powerful on-stage unity and a rare sensibility, the Trio Sōra was born of a burning passion for chamber music shared by close friends at the Paris Conservatoire. Their music is vivacious, hence the significance of the native American name Sōra: a bird singing while spreading its wings.

Please note that this visit is limited to 25 participants.
