The Pioneers' Club was created in the 1970s by a small group of American and Belgian members of the American Club of Brussels. They felt the need to have a special group within the club for those members having long-term interests in the Brussels community and who have been club members for 10 years or more. Also admitted as members are those who sit on the Board of Governors of the American Club of Brussels. The Pioneers' Club holds two dinners a year which by custom are black tie. The dinners are not announced publicly, as private invitations are emailed to eligible members. Once a year, a distinguished speaker is invited.
